November 2025 Theme Reveal: Joy During Hard Times

November’s theme for our Christian-based letter mail club for teen girls is “Joy During Hard Times.” It’s sort of like a sister topic to depression, a topic many moms have asked for over and over again.

The Heart Behind This Month’s Theme

When I look at my daughter and girls her age, I pay close attention to the things they wrestle with. As a nurse who’s worked in adolescent behavioral health, I’ve seen so many girls struggle with depression.

And while that struggle often runs deeper than what’s on the surface, one thing is clear: our girls need to know how to handle the sadness they feel in their hearts. They can’t always change the situations that bring pain, but through God’s Word, they can learn how to find joy even in the middle of it.

The world offers all kinds of advice for coping, but our girls need to know that their Heavenly Father already gave them a blueprint for how to deal with life’s challenges. It’s our job to make sure they know it, and that’s exactly what these letters are here to help with.

When I think back to my own teen years, one of the hardest things for me emotionally was not having a close relationship with my father. I touch on this in the letter, but it left me feeling incomplete for a long time and brought so much heaviness into my life.

Back then, I tried to get through those moments with worldly music and crying it out. I had a praying mother too which I’m sure helped, but she didn’t teach me how to fight my battles with God’s Word.

Now, as a mom of a teen daughter and a 9 year old, I’m on a mission to make sure they know they don’t have to look to the world for guidance. The world can lie… but God never does.

What This Letter Teaches

This month’s letter reminds our girls that there’s a difference between happiness and joy, and that joy is something they can have no matter what life looks like.

It teaches them how to experience the kind of peace only God can bring, even when their world feels heavy.

Inside This Month’s Envelope

Included in this month’s theme is an encouragement letter, theme introduction card, guided prayer card, conversation starters, journal prompts and printed activities.

The Star of the Show: The Encouragement Letter

Before I write each letter, I pray and ask God to speak through me… to let this letter reach the girls who need it most.

If you feel the Spirit nudging you to sign your daughter up, I hope you’ll follow that lead. It’s always my prayer that I step out of the way and let God use me as His vessel to speak life and truth into these girls.

Theme Introduction Card

This card can help girls understand why this month’s theme matters and shows them what’s included in the envelope.

Every letter is anchored in a core Bible verse which is printed on the card for them to read, reflect on and even memorize.

I also include a monthly affirmation relevant to the theme, but also rooted in truth which can pretty much help them speak over their own life.

As a bonus, I provide that affirmation as a phone wallpaper PNG file. I actually use each month’s wallpaper myself! Seeing it every time I pick up my phone is a gentle reminder of the truth I need to dwell on.

Guided Prayer Card

On the back of the theme introduction card is a guided prayer that is written to help girls ask God for comfort, healing, and lasting peace when they’re hurting or feeling low.

Conversation Starter Card

Each double-sided card has a thoughtful question on both sides.

It’s designed to:

  • Give you and your daughter a meaningful moment of connection.

  • Open up space for gentle guidance and understanding as you talk through your answers together.

Journal Prompts

This one’s my favorite (Can you tell I love to write?)

There are 4 journaling prompts, one for each week… so your daughter can slow down, reflect and write out her thoughts.

Some questions tie directly to faith, and some simply invite her to process her emotions.

Printed Activity Sheets

She’ll also receive two half-page printed activities related to the theme.

One is the Kindness in Action Bingo Challenge encouraging her to spread kindness because it’s hard to stay sad when you’re blessing others. Throughout the month, they challenge themselves to completely cover the card by completing the tasks in the squares.

The other is the Joy Choice Wheel which offers girls different things they can do when they do start to feel sadness creeping in. As they do something on the choice wheel, they can color it in.

It just helps them realize there’s different things they can do in those moments to bring back peace and focus on joy.

Welcome Letter

If this is her first time receiving a letter, she’ll also get a welcome letter introducing her to Her Blessed Letters, a little background information about me and what these letters are all about.

Bonus Excerpt From the Letter

“Before I go, I want to leave you with this: you are never alone and there’s nothing you’ll ever have to go through by yourself. Your heavenly father will never leave you or forget about you. You deserve to have joy, and that doesn’t mean pretending that everything is okay. It means trusting that God is with you through it all. You don’t have to rely on your own strength. As a child of the Most High, know that God is your strength. Please hold on to that truth when life feels heavy.”
